❖ Montauk, NY

One of the places I was most excited to see when I moved to the East Coast was the Hamptons. Now, there are many different towns/villages in the Hamptons, but Montauk has a lot of great restaurants, beaches, and nightlife. The drawback is that it's the farthest town from New York City in the Hamptons.

❖ Albany, NY

I’m a little biased with this one because my partner was born and raised in Albany. However, we always make sure to spend time upstate during the summer and fall seasons because apple picking and the horse races at Saratoga Racetrack is a must. It’s also only a 2.5 train ride from NYC.

❖ Philadelphia, PA

Another major city that’s very easy to get to via Amtrak. You could probably get to Philly faster than JFK via car (which is wild). Also, another city with a lot of history! Philly has a very excellent food scene, along with Elfreth’s Alley which is the oldest road in America and SO cute.

❖ Boston, MA

A huge benefit to living on the East Coast is that you’re only a train ride away from other major cities. I visited Boston and it was such an easy (and stunning!) train ride through CT, RI, and MA. There’s also so much history there, so it’s a perfect place for a weekend getaway (or longer!).

❖ Kennebunkport, ME

You can drive or take a train to Kennebunkport. I prefer flying for 40 minutes into Portland, Maine – yes, the Uber to the airport is sometimes longer than the plane ride itself! But it’s such a cute, laidback beach town. You must try a lobster roll at The Clam Shack!

❖ Martha’s Vineyard

Skip the trains, planes, and cars, and hop the ferry from NYC to Martha’s Vineyard. That’s right — there’s a ferry to this idyllic Massachusetts island just south of Cape Cod. Enjoy the 4.5 hour ride across the Long Island Sound from 35th Street and on the other side, you’ll find yourself in a quaint New England paradise.
